So I am sure by now most of you are familiar with the famous Groupon, a website that posts daily deals for discounted gift certificates that you can use in your area and sometimes even nationally. You are probably also aware that there are a whole bunch of these Daily Deal sites, one of which I just blogged about a couple of days ago, WagJag, then there is also Livingsocial, Teamsave and the list goes on and on. If you haven’t used these sites yet then I am so glad you are here because you definitely need to check them out! For those of you who do use them, you must read on because you could be missing out on even more savings.
I wanted to let you know that there is an easy way to get back an extra 3-6% on any Groupon deals purchased. There are websites out there that split the commissions they receive from sending business to specific websites including the Groupon site. The one I am writing about today is called Ebates. I have been using Ebates for a couple of months now and it has been great. I have already received my first cash payout! I was so excited when I learned about this program because it is totally free to join and even had a signup bonus that helps get you to your first payout quickly.
If you sign up now you will get $5 in cash to start your Ebates account or your choice of a $10 gift card (This will be earned after your first $25 purchase using one of their links). This program pays in actual cash that will be mailed to you in a cheque or paid out to a paypal account. The percentages of cash back per site fluctuate since they are always running double cash back promotions etc.
MORE WAYS TO SAVE MONEY
I always pay for my Groupons with a credit card that gives me cash back. Making this a real triple play between the initial Groupon savings, the Ebates rebate and the Credit Card Cash rewards. (This is all coming under the assumption that you have the ability to pay off your credit card every month without paying interest, otherwise you are losing money by paying this way. I plan to do a post with the best credit card rewards programs soon, so stay tuned).
I also use Ebates to check if I can get deals on almost all my online shopping since they pay out on over a 1000 shops! Some of the ones I have used it for besides Groupon include: Gapcanada.ca, Expedia.ca, and Shopbop.com (a great site for trendy clothes that offers free shipping anywhere in the world. They are also really good about having huge sales of up to 70% off!).
